What is a Coltriever crossbreed?
Decker was the first to be registered as a Coltreiver and was a name made up from his parents - a collie father and golden retriever mother. When Decker sired two litters the name was registered as an affix at the Kennel Club and all his family are part collie and part golden retriever. Some are slightly more percentage of one than the other is but there are no other breeds in the line. All the parents are eye tested for collie and retriever abnormalities and all are hip scored - with excellent results.
In the lineage there are international sheepdog champions, breed champions, field trial champions, working trials champions, obedience champions and crufts obedience champion. Obviously other affixes have been introduced such as Melnola, Retcoll, Skippaway Caramay and Bordereiver. The majority of the family are black but there are some golden, tri-colour and even merles. They compete in obedience, agility, flyball, working trials and heelwork to music with great enthusiasm but are equally happy lazing around at home. |
